Rubem “Gordim” Soares is one of the principal actors of the Cinema Marginal Piauiense cycle, with memorable roles in Miss Dora (1974), Porenquanto (1974), and Tupy Niquim (1974). He is one of the few actors to have appeared in films produced both in Teresina and in Rio de Janeiro during this cycle. In this interview, Gordim reflects on this remarkably effervescent moment in Piauí culture and filmmaking, recalls his move to Rio de Janeiro alongside other artists from the cycle, and discusses his work as an actor in two of the films produced there.
