On August 3, 2021, we hosted a virtual conversation with filmmaker Vladimir Carvalho, moderated by Gustavo Menezes, revisiting key moments in the history of Brazilian documentary through three central works in his career. Starting from his involvement in the production of Aruanda (1960), Carvalho discussed the film’s making, creative decisions, and historical context, expanding the conversation to O Cajueiro Nordestino and A Cabra na Região Semiárida—films that closely link cinema, territory, and memory in Brazil’s Northeast. The event took place at 7:00 pm (Brasília time) and was broadcast live.
